Jio AirFiber, a new wireless broadband service for households and businesses, is being developed by Reliance Jio. Today, at Reliance Industries' 2023 annual general meeting, chairman and MD Mukesh Ambani revealed that the company would launch Jio AirFiber in India on Tuesday, September 19th, 2023, in time for the festival of Ganesh Chaturthi.
Jio AirFiber was first shown at last year's 45th annual general meeting. When discussing the service, Jio highlighted the fact that customers using AirFiber would have access to wireless internet at speeds similar to those provided by fiber-optic connections. They'll be able to take advantage of high-bandwidth and low-latency applications like video streaming, online gaming, and video conferencing thanks to this. The service also has extra features like parental controls and Wi-Fi 6 compatibility.
Jio AirFiber: What Is It?
Jio AirFiber is Jio's new wireless internet service that makes use of 5G technology to create lightning-fast connections. Jio claims that The AiFiber would provide speeds up to 1Gbps, which is on par with what you'd get from a conventional fiber-optic connection.
According to the official Jio website, setting up Jio AiFiber entails no more than plugging it in and turning it on. Simply plug it in and turn it on to get started. Thanks to True 5G, your home may now serve as a Wi-Fi hotspot for your entire neighbourhood. Quickly and easily connect your house or business to Gigabit-speed Internet with JioAirFiber.
Jio AirFiber quickness
Jio first advertised the device last year, boasting 5G download rates of up to 1.5 Gbps. Jio claims that its Jio AirFiber service, which utilises real 5G technology, offers lightning-fast speeds, rock-solid reliability, and comprehensive coverage. The service, the business claims, may cover up to 1,000 square feet on the same level of a home or office building due to the company's exclusive spectrum holding.
What Jio AirFiber Can Do For You
Jio AirFiber will provide more than just high-speed connectivity; it will also provide a suite of security features designed to make using the internet worry-free.
Users of Jio AirFiber will have the option to manage and restrict the content accessible on their network with the help of parental control tools. It will also be compatible with Wi-Fi 6 technology, allowing for faster and more reliable device connectivity.
Users will be able to stream high-definition content from their televisions over their Jio AiFiber connection, thanks to the service's compatibility with the Jio set-top box.
The Jio AirFiber app will make setup and management a breeze.
Users on Jio AirFiber will have the option to restrict access to particular websites or devices, making for a safer and more personalised online experience.
We anticipate that Jio's AirFiber service will be priced at least 20% less than competing products on the market. According to ET telecom's report, the price of the gadget could be about Rs 6,000.
When compared to Jio Fibre, what sets apart Jio AirFiber?
Both Jio AirFiber and Jio Fibre are offered by Reliance Jio, however they are two separate broadband services with distinct technologies, speeds, coverage areas, and costs.
Jio Fibre, which uses hardwired fibre optic connections to cover more ground, is one such service, however it is not yet available everywhere in India. Jio AirFiber, on the other hand, will be a wireless broadband network that employs point-to-point radio links to establish direct signal connections between individual residences and commercial establishments and Jio. Line of sight to Jio towers is required rather than fibre cables.
